Curriculum reform as one of the important approaches towards attaining global competence and sustainable development in the 21st century is analyzed critically through a focus on Nigeria. Based on the argument that education is one of the most vital foundations for national development, this work looks at possible ways in which Nigeria can make its curriculum fit for the current global realities such as technological revolution, environmental awareness, and cultural exchange. This study employs content analysis method to analyze selected policy documents, curriculum framework, and academic literatures on curriculum reform in order to examine what reforms should be made in order to align with the present-day reality. It has been established that the current curriculum of Nigeria is relatively conventional, test-driven, and does not emphasize much about creativity, problem-solving skills, sustainability literacy, or global education. The study recommends the inclusion of important competencies in the content of the curriculum such as critical thinking, collaboration, digital literacy, environmental awareness, and ethics, among others. A reformed curriculum of this type, if carried out systematically, will improve Nigeria’s preparation for the changes of the contemporary world.
