EXTENTS OF RELIABILITY OF EACH OF THREE FORMS OF THE EQUIVALENT OF OBJECTIVE TESTS

Authors

Abstract

The study investigated the extent of reliability of three form of equivalence. A correlational research design was used. A Stratified Random Sampling was used to obtain 100 college students. A 24 items multiple choice objective test was constructed. Using Crhonbach Co-efficient Alpha, an index of 65 obtained showed that the instrument had both validity and reliability. Versions of the instrument were constructed to obtain other three multiple choice objective tests. Using simple Correlation, the Pearson Product Moment Correlation showed equivalence of the four instruments. The three null hypotheses of non-equivalence at 0.5 level of significance, r (80) =0.85, 0.81, 0.82 and 0.84; P<0.05. The study concluded that scores on parallel tests are always equivalent. The recommendation was made that the equivalent instruments could be used in the same examination to forestall examination misbehavior among other recommendation.
