Vol. 1 Issue 1 - 2024
This paper examines the need for curtailing the incessant kidnapping of the girl-child mostly in the northern part of Nigeria by the Boko-Haram and other groups of individuals who are into such, which no doubt is an attempt to put an end to the girl-child education. This is because the Boko-Haram are aware of the potentials and powers derivable by an educated girl/woman. Views of other scholars and interested stakeholders in the field of education towards the harassment and state of insecurity affecting the girl-child education in the north and the diaspora are also discussed. Therefore, this paper recommends amongst others that, Federal Government should beef up security around schools especially the girl schools by making sufficient funds available to procure modern gadgets for the use of well-trained security personnel in the Country. Similarly, all stakeholders in the girl-child education should cooperate and contribute their quota to ensuring maximum security in the girl-child schools.
